News on Team Tijsterman in Africa

Good Morning Everyone,

I just wanted to share some news about the participation of Henk Tijsterman and Henk Büdgen in the Africa Eco Rally, 2011 edition. The team was performing really well and managed to slowly creep into the top 10 to even attain a 7th overall position untill bad luck struck yesterday and the team arrived late with mechanical problems at the bivouac where they got a 10 hour penalty.

Anyhow here is some pictures:

Now let's wish them a good final 3 stages and a good trip back home!

Kind Regards,
Bas Jansen

New project for the Africa Rally (Kees Tijsterman)

Hey Folks,

Kees Tijsterman is still working on going to the Africa Rally this winter (2010/2011) and has recently acquired a new car on which they are working day and night. We will hopefully be able to assist them in this endeavor and maybe learn a bit in the process as a sort of preperation for our own build.

I hope to be able to upload some photo's of this project at a later date.

Cheers,
Bas Jansen

Welcome to this offroad blog

Hello Everyone,

I would like to welcome you all to the blog dedicated to the Offroad Racing exploits of Bas Jansen. The plan/dream is to participate in the Africa Race in a few years time. The Africa Race carries on in the spirit of 'Le Dakar' after they relocated to South America.

This website will cover any and all of my experiences that are related to this goal. The first step is to secure a car with which i can enter the Dutch National Offroad Championship, to that end i spent this morning talking with Kees and Mieke Tijsterman. The conversation itself was a very pleasant and quite fruitful event as I learned a lot about the 'world' behind the sports and Mieke said she would keep an eye out for a second hand car for the next season \o/.

So the next step would be registering for my national license and (hopefully) getting the (still to be acquired) car ready for the next season.

Kind Regards,
Bas Jansen
